J. Carson Longo was a Charter member of the Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) Early Birds Club #3980 in 2002 He became the first Treasurer of the Club, achieved his CTM award and became Secretary of the Club in July 2003. Several years passed as Carson journeyed from Cary, NC to Sarasota, FL (his current home) via a circuitous route. During these years he visited numerous Toastmasters Clubs but never called one his toastmaster home.

Upon making Sarasota his residence he discovered the Sarasota Toastmasters Club chartered in October 1956 and he joined the club in May 2007. What a wonderful club with a diverse membership, a long history and members at every level of their personal journeys through the toastmaster experience - this is his toastmasters home. Since joining the Club he was the President during the 2008-2009 year where the Club achieved 8 of 10 points to qualify for Select Distinguished Club Award.

Carson set a goal in May 2008 to become a DTM by July 2010 (the PLAN). To achieve this goal (the execution) he completed the ACB (6/08), CL (9/08), ALB (10/08) and ACS (5/09) all within year one of the PLAN. Year two of the PLAN begins July 1, 2009 and he is already on the way to completing the ACG and ALS awards by June 30, 2010. The DTM award application will be completed no later than July 1, 2010.

Carson believes that a PLAN is absolutely necessary if you want to SUCCEED in all aspects of your life not just toastmasters. Personal qualities that we all need to accomplish our goals are: Confidence - Leadership - Service - Consistency - Collaboration.
