A Toastmaster for the past nearly seven years, I am from Freeport, Grand Bahama in the beautiful country of The Bahamas.
In my pursuit to become a Motivational Speaker/Corporate Trainer, I decided to visit a Toastmasters club after seeing an article about the club in my island’s daily newspaper, “The Freeport News”. After visiting several meetings, I officially joined Toastmasters Club 1425, “Freeport Eagles”, on August 07, 2003.
My decision to join the Toastmasters organization has proven to be one of the smartest decisions I have ever made. Since joining, I have gained much experience in communications and leadership skills and have met many friends that have encouraged me along the way. I have served my club in the capacity of VP Public Relations and President. I have also enjoyed the privilege of mentoring other Toastmasters and motivating young people in their quest to become better speakers by assisting my club with speech crafts and judging various speech competitions.
In October of 2005, I became certified as a Corporate Trainer through Serenity Projects University, West Palm Beach. I finished at the top of my class after confidently delivering my final presentation before the school’s board of directors. I can certainly say that this success was because of my training in Toastmasters.
A former Banker of 16 years, I took a leap of faith in April of 2004 to pursue other interests. A dedicated wife and mother, I chose to work for myself in order to have the flexibility to be available to my family. I am now an entrepreneur, President of “DAPS Corporate Training and Business Services” where my aim is to Develop Attitudes for Potential Success. My services include corporate training, motivational speaking, freelance writing, voice-over recording, and public relations.
I am also a known youth advocate in my community being the author of a book “Motivational Poems for Teens”, the founder and former host of “Teen Talk” which was aired on a local radio station, ZNS 3, and a columnist with our local newspaper, “The Freeport News”, dealing with youth issues. Because of this, I am regularly invited to speak to youth groups at churches and other youth organizations, schools and a few graduation ceremonies.
As a Corporate Trainer my favorite subject to train in is Customer Service. As a result, I recently began hosting a talk show “The Customer is Numero Uno!” The show which is aired every Tuesday on ZNS 3 began on February 09, of this year.
Besides my passion for Toastmasters and Training, I am also a member of my children’s school board and a very active member of my church where I serve as a youth leader, a member of the outreach ministry and public relations officer. My number 1 passion, however, is family life. I have been married to Mr. Dwayne Pratt for the past 18 years and we are the proud parents of three angels, 14 year old Danielle and 9 year old Destiny and Dana (twins). During my spare time I enjoy reading, exercising and spending quality time with my family. Last Updated (Monday, 28 June 2010 20:48)
