The club website can be an important tool to facilitate the club experience: recruiting new members, setting agendas, announcing events, recognizing achievements, etc. If leveraged well, this tool can breathe fresh air into a stagnant club or serve as a gear in a well-oiled machine. Unfortunately, many clubs are not using the club website to its full potential.
The Stars Program is an opportunity to evaluate every club website in our district and give members tips and tricks to take each club's online presence to the next level. Our objective is to encourage club webmasters to make the best use of all web tools available and to create a space to share and learn from other D47 webmasters.
Clubs with 9 and 10 stars will be recognized for their stellar performance!
To earn your 9th star, complete all of the criteria for the first two tiers and 3 criteria from the list below. To earn your 10th star, the highest distinction in the Stars Program, complete a total of 6 criteria from this list.
The club webmaster is responsible for overseeing the Stars Program. If the club doesn't have a webmaster, this falls under the purview of the Vice President of Public Relations.
The district webmaster will evaluate all club websites once a quarter: September 2018, December 2018, March 2019, and June 2019. Each quarter, clubs with the highest number of stars and with the most improvement will be recognized.
Your club can earn 1 star for every 3 criteria met, but to move onto the next tier, your club must meet all of the criteria in the previous tier. The criteria were devised to be progressively more challenging, but they are all doable and go a long way towards fully utilizing the web tools available to club webmasters. As a webmaster, you can use the links on this page as a how-to guide to meet the criteria. Once you've implemented changes in your website, fill out the Star Status Update to alert the D47 webmaster.
